Just a brief overview of who I am, what I do with my life, and that sort of thing.

Professional background

A graduate of the University of Wales College of Medicine, I worked in a number of posts in hospital medicine and family medicine. I have also worked as a clinical lecturer at St Bartholomew's Medical College in London researching into clinical decision support systems for doctors to use in the care of diabetic patients, and developing a wide area network for the teaching of medical students in remote sites, and at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine, researching international health care systems. I have a regular radio slot on Liberty Radio.

IT background

I have been working with computers since the late 1970's, and have watched things change beyond all recognition. My main interests now are around healthcare computing, particularly issues of confidentiality and data security and also user interface design, but I retain an interest in other areas of IT, and still do some consultancy work in the computer games industry. In the past, I have worked in the design of DTP packages, and still retain an interest in graphics and image processing; although most of my work now is on e-commerce. I am closely involved in the design of the next generation of healhcare computer systems.

Other information

I have a variety of other interests, including art and graphic design, skiing, SCUBA diving, kite flying, music, good food, good wine and good company. I have an interest in politics and the ecology, history and travel. I'm a voracious reader, from Thomas Hardy to William Gibson, from George Soros to Dr Seuss, I love to read well written books.

I hope that you have enjoyed viewing this web site as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
